About BBC News
BBC News is the international television news channel of the British Broadcasting Corporation, broadcasting continuously in English to a global audience. It is funded principally through the UK licence fee and operates under a Royal Charter that establishes its editorial independence from government — a structure that is unusual among major international broadcasters and is central to how its output is read worldwide. The channel carries rolling bulletins, live coverage, correspondent reporting from an unusually large international bureau network, and analysis and interview programming. It appears in this directory because a large share of our audience is Iranian diaspora living in the UK and Europe who follow English-language international news alongside Farsi coverage, frequently on the same story.
