VOA Persian
About VOA Persian
VOA Persian is the Farsi-language service of Voice of America, the United States' international public broadcaster, producing television, radio and digital output from Washington, D.C. It is one of the longest-running Persian-language broadcasters aimed at audiences inside Iran, with a remit centred on news, current affairs, and coverage of US policy toward Iran. Its schedule mixes news bulletins with interview and discussion programming, documentary material, and cultural output aimed at the Iranian diaspora in North America and Europe. Because VOA is funded by the US Congress through the US Agency for Global Media, its editorial independence is formally protected by statute but its funding and remit are inherently political, and Iranian state media routinely characterise it accordingly. Like other diaspora broadcasters, it reaches Iran by satellite and online.
